What is the Difference Between SJOOW, STOOW and SOOW Cables?

SOOW and SJOOW

It’s the most common SO cord. These portable cords have a flexible rubber jacket, making them known for their resistance to abrasion and thermal resistance while keeping cost-effectiveness.

SOOW

S means Service

OO means Oil-resistant insulation and Oil-resistant jacket.

W means Weather and Water resistance.

SJOOW

It’s the same as SOOW but the J stands for Junior. A Junior cable rates up to 300V rather than 600V.

STOW and SJTOW

Such cords have similar resistance properties to SOOW and SEOOW, but not to the same degree. Both the STOW and SJTOW have a thermoplastic jacket, making it the least flexible of the SO portable cords. However, they are fantastic for user applications, compact lighting and energy extensions.

SEOOW and SJEOOW

The SEOOW is a high-quality flexible cord built with plastic characteristics and a rubber jacketed material. Simultaneously, the SOOW equivalent is made of a rubber jacket only. The thermoplastic elastomer jacket is what puts this SEOOW group apart from the SOOW and SJOOW portable cords.

This thermoplastic includes the chemical tolerance properties of PVC and the durable properties of rubber. SEOOW is also more water-resistant than SOOW could be used at lower temperatures—the SEOOW average temp is –50oC to 105oC.

This thermoplastic incorporates the chemical tolerance properties of PVC and lightweight rubber properties. SEOOW is also more water-resistant than SOOW and can be used at lower temperatures – the SEOOW temperature range is –50oC to 105oC.
