SJTW Cable: What does it mean and how is it used?

The “T” in SJTOW means thermoplastic materials in the jacket as well as insulation. This unique thermoplastic material used in our SJTOW is made of PVC. One “O” means that only the jacket is oil resistant, not just the jacket and the insulation. As it comes to SJOOW, the lack of the “T” means the rubber is used instead of thermoplastic. Double “OO” means that the jacket and the lining are resistant to gasoline. In this situation, the rubber compounds used in our SJOOW cables are EPDM for insulation and Neoprene for jackets.

Even though both are highly flexible and oil-resistant, the SJOOW has both an insulation and a resistant jacket, and the rubber makes it much more flexible than the SJTOW. That being said, the SJTOW with thermoplastic instead of rubber provides consistency in the implementation with a little more robustness than the SJOOW rubber.

How to choose the right SJTW cables?

There are many applications for SJT cables, especially in the lighting and electrical equipment industry. In addition, if you look at different firms, whether they are categorized as heavy industrial or commercial photography, they mostly use SJT cables because they are such a flexible cable that is much cheaper than other cables available.
