SO cable is one of the most widely used and versatile portable electrical cables available. These are multi-conductor cords, consisting of two or more conductors, which makes it ideal for use in both indoor and outdoor applications in a range of environments. It is mainly found in commercial, residential and industrial applications, but has increased in usage in mills, mines, and marinas.?

SOOW cable is the most widely used type of the SO flexible rubber electrical cable, but has a better resistance to oil, water and chemicals. SOOW is commonly used in industrial applications. SOOW cable is made by using thermoset (rubber used in heavy duty cable). The thermoplastic elastomer, or plastic that looks and feels like rubber, is ideal for withstanding cold environments. Thermoplastic is just a lighter grade, more flexible polymer that is used in very light SOOW applications, such as power cable for portable appliances. SOOW flexible rubber cords carry a 7 to 96 Amp rating and operating voltage of 600v and are also manufactured as a 300 volt rated junior cable designated as SJOOW.
