Tevelec carries a full range of electrical lead wire and cable for office, shop, and industrial applications as well as electrical wire, cable and cord for consumer electric products.
Electrical power cables are found all around us. They line the walls of our homes, offices and shops. Electrical power cable and lead wire are found in our cars, boats, trains and airplanes.
WHAT IS AN ELECTRICAL POWER CABLE?
Electricity is distributed or transmitted either by underground cables or overhead transmission. Electrical power cables are usually designed for a specific requirement. For example, power cables are used for transmission and distribution. Its assembly is composed of one or more insulated electrical conductors that are held together using sheaths.
Electric power cables can have permanent wiring installations in buildings, buried underground, or installed overhead.
For portable devices, machinery, and mobile tools, a flexible power cable is recommended.
Mining needs extra strength cables with heavy-duty armouring.
If you need to run a wind power plant, we recommend a UV protected and flexible cable with a strong sheath to withstand environmental factors.
The sturdiest electrical power cable would be underground cables. They are less prone to damage, low maintenance, can resist storms, and a lower chance of faults. We also have thermoplastic portable cords. TPE is durable and withstands extreme temperatures in weather and harsh environments.
ELECTRICAL CABLE AND LEAD WIRE TYPES
There are two main types of electrical power cable and wire.
- Permanent wiring is found within buildings, strung between transmission poles, or buried underground.
- Flexible portable power cable and wiring is used in non-fixed devices such as personal electronics, portable tools, machinery, patch cords and extension cord and wires.
For heavy-duty lead wire applications, Diesel Locomotive Cable is used for motor leads, diesel locomotives, public transit and railroad cars, heavy machinery (earth movers, drilling rigs, etc)
